Canadian cardiologists, oncologists team up to fight breast cancer

A team of Canadian cardiologists, in collaboration with oncologists, are playing an important role in the war against breast cancer Dr. Michael McDonald told the Canadian Cardiovascular Congress 2009, co-hosted by the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Cardiovascular Society.

Kaiser Permanente launches weight maintenance program for obese pregnant women

More than half of women in the United States are overweight or obese when they become pregnant, and most go on to gain more than the recommended amount during pregnancy. The excess weight can lead to a myriad of complications, including preeclampsia, diabetes, bigger babies, C-sections, birth injuries, and weight retention after pregnancy.

Study results of PTH1-34 oral parathyroid hormone presented

America's pharmaceutical research and biotechnology companies are working on nearly 1,000 life-changing medicines for diseases affecting women, according to a new report released by the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA). The medicines are awaiting approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration or are in human clinical trials.
